Vortic Watch Company - Harley Davidson Watch Information

Preserving Harley-Davidson History

We are always on the hunt for special American made pocket watch movements to salvage from the scrapyards, restore, and preserve in our wrist watches. Recently one of our pickers came across a true masterpiece. An original South Bend pocket watch movement featuring the Harley-Davidson logo. It was quite literally at the bottom of a pile of rusted movements that had been discarded when their likely gold or silver cases were melted down. We knew we had to do something special with this one.

Original Antique Dial

The dial inside this watch is all original to the antique pocket watch movement. It was likely hand painted when the movement was built and features the Harley Davidson logo as well as the South Bend watch brand. The numerals and hands are original and were likely hand painted at the time this piece was built. The original patina is stunning and was expertly preserved.

Original Antique Movement

The original antique movement inside this piece was built into a pocket watch by the South Bend Watch Company in South Bend, Indiana in 1920. It features 19 jewels and a beautiful bridge design. The movement has been expertly restored to its original condition and is keeping great time. Originally adjusted to 4 positions, this would have been a high quality and potentially expensive pocket watch.

Auction to Benefit The National Watch And Clock Museum

Every watch we make is one of a kind, but typically we can "find something similar" if a customer sees something that they like, but that is already sold. In this case, this is as one of a kind as one of a kind gets, and there is nothing similar. Because of that fact, we decided that we could not sell this watch. We partnered with the NAWCC to start a fundraiser auction in support of our favorite cause: The National Watch and Clock Museum.

From November 8th to 17th, 2018 we will launch an auction on the NAWCC eBay auction store where anyone can bid on this watch. 100% of funds raised will go to the National Watch and Clock Museum in support of future research projects and exhibits featuring historical watches like this one. We hope you'll consider supporting us by sharing this page with your watch and Harley loving friends and by bidding on our auction.
