American Artisan Series watches contain a manually wound, mechanical movement (timekeeping mechanism) and dial (face) from an antique, American-made pocket watch. Individuals commonly scrap pocket watch cases for their precious metal, leaving the original, approximately 100-year-old, mechanism orphaned. Vortic meticulously restores each timepiece to as close to original condition as possible. Watches with more jewels (jeweled gear bearings for longevity) tend to be of a higher quality and value.
Every watch is covered by Vortic's 2-year, comprehensive warranty.
3D printed American Artisan Series cases are grown, one thin layer at a time, using powdered titanium and a high power laser. Each case is lightly barrel-polished to remove sharp edges while maintaining a vintage-style finish on the exterior. The interior of the case is CNC machined for accuracy and water resistance.
Fully machined American Artisan Series cases are CNC milled from solid blocks of titanium or bronze. The titanium cases are much lighter than their bronze counterparts, but the bronze will take on a unique patina over time.
The crown (winding knob) is located at 12 O'clock due to the pocket watch movement's orientation. All American Artisan Series crowns are turned from a copper alloy in Colorado, then electroplated to achieve different finishes. The crown comes in two styles (round and knurled) and three finishes (raw copper, nickel, gold).
Vortic's timeless leather straps are hand-crafted in the United States from domestically sourced leather. The standard strap features four different colors while the cordovan straps come in classic black or rich oxblood.
Horween's Shell Cordovan leather, tanned in Chicago, is highly sought after for its ability to take on character as it wears. The buckle is CNC machined at Vortic to match your crown finish selection.
American Artisan Series watches may be personalized with laser engraving in up to three locations. If you are not interested in engraving, you may skip this section and leave the options un-selected.
