Watch Description

What makes the Springfield 105 unique:

The Springfield 105 is a sophisticated timepiece that perfectly encapsulates the elegance and craftsmanship of early 20th-century American watchmaking. The finely textured silver dial, adorned with bold black numerals and rich blue kite hands, exudes timeless charm. Its patina—a testament to its nearly century-long journey—provides a beautiful backdrop for its classic sub-seconds display.

At its heart is an Illinois Watch Company movement from 1922, proudly engraved with “The Fifth Avenue.” This designation highlights the watch’s original premium status, as it was marketed to embody prestige and refinement. “The Fifth Avenue” branding nods to the luxurious appeal associated with New York City’s iconic avenue, where elegance and quality were paramount. With 19 meticulously restored jewels, this manual-wind movement remains a testament to Illinois Watch Company’s dedication to precision and durability.

Encased in machined stainless steel with a coin-edge bezel, the Springfield 105 blends durability with refined detail. The knurled crown complements the case’s polished finish, while the warm, chocolate brown leather strap adds a touch of richness to the overall design. The Springfield 105 is more than a timepiece—it’s a celebration of history, craftsmanship, and enduring style, ideal for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Illinois Watch Company. We call this model "The Springfield" because the company was located in Springfield, Illinois.

Originally called the Springfield Watch Company, Illinois came to Springfield, Illinois in 1869 while the "modern" watch industry was fairly new but highly promising. City officials felt that the addition of industry to the city of Springfield would be excellent for the city's growth. However, after a series of failures and re-brandings, the company had a slow start until 1903 when they decided to manufacture high-quality watches only. Eventually making some of the most beautiful watches of their time, the company sold to Hamilton in 1927. Hamilton continued producing watches under the Illinois name for some time, but the original Springfield factory no longer stands.
