Watch Description

What makes the Boston 036 unique:

The Boston 036 captures attention at first glance with a truly breathtaking dial. This double-sunk parchment-toned dial features a highly ornate center engraving—an intricate floral pattern that evokes the kind of hand craftsmanship rarely seen today. Bold Art Deco numerals punctuate the design, creating a strong visual contrast, while a finely detailed sub-seconds dial sits at six o’clock, adding symmetry and depth. Blued steel heavy moon hands sweep across the surface, their curvature and color shifting beautifully in the light.

Inside, you’ll find a 17-jewel movement from Waltham, crafted in 1919 and preserved in near-pristine condition. The movement bridges showcase stunning hand-engraved patterns—floral motifs, zig-zags, and geometric shapes that give the piece an artistic energy. The addition of gold-plated gears and rose gold jewel cups adds just the right amount of warm shimmer behind the sapphire caseback, reinforcing the movement’s historic elegance.

We’ve encased this movement in a machined titanium case with our signature angled bezel. This case brings a contemporary contrast to the antique movement within, and the knurled machined-steel crown provides just the right tactile detail. A dark oxblood leather strap with light stitching anchors the design, complementing the subtle warmth of the dial and tying the entire piece together.

The movement inside The Boston 036 was manufactured in 1919, just one year before the U.S. ratified the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote. That same year, the Waltham Watch Company was producing high-grade railroad and military timepieces—serving as a cornerstone of American horological excellence. With this watch, we honor not only American watchmaking, but the spirit of precision and progress that shaped the country at the turn of the century.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Waltham Watch Company. We call this model "The Boston" because of the company's proximity to the city.

Also known as American Watch Company and American Waltham Watch Company, Waltham was one of the leaders in attempting an entirely new concept, machines making machines. Prior to this, a watchmaker would hand-make each part of a movement one-at-a-time. Operating from 1851-1957, Waltham called its product the "Scientific Watch." Waltham's innovative, precise machining techniques made parts interchangeable, and their early version of the assembly line made high-quality watches efficient to produce. Legend has it that Henry Ford drew inspiration for his assembly line production from a visit to Waltham's factory. Located on the bank of the Charles River in "Watch City" (Waltham), Massachusetts, the factory has since been converted to apartment lofts.
