Vortic Careers: Watchmaking Technician

Vortic Watch Company is hiring a Watchmaking Technician to assemble wristwatches in our Fort Collins, Colorado facility.

Vortic salvages and restores antique American pocket watch movements and converts them into one-of-a-kind wristwatches. Our new brand, Colorado Watch Company, makes the most American-made modern wristwatches at scale today. We are currently hiring a technician to work on our Vortic conversion watches, but opportunities to assemble modern watches for Colorado Watch Company will also be available in the future.

We are one of the only wristwatch manufacturers in the United States and are on a mission to make as much of a watch here as possible. We do things in Colorado that are typically only done in Switzerland and China, and it's your job to continuously improve our systems and processes in order to compete with the massive Swiss and Chinese manufacturers in our industry by making watches here in Colorado.

As a Watchmaking Technician for a wristwatch manufacturing company, you'll be responsible for assembling wristwatches, rigorously testing them for quality assurance, and tracking numerous variations, models, and types of watches as well as all of their components. Our assembly technicians must have the utmost patience and attention to detail and have extensive experience in a similar role.

Our assembly room is fully stocked with all necessary tools, equipment, and plenty of natural light. For a video tour of our facility, please check out this YouTube video:

We are looking for a team player. Someone who’s not afraid to provide feedback to the rest of the team if there’s a way to improve a part, a system, or a process, but also someone willing to roll up their sleeves and knock out a bunch of hard work during our busiest times of the year. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, takes feedback and criticism well, and gets along with co-workers in a healthy, positive, and supportive environment.

All work is to be done in person, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm at our downtown Fort Collins, Colorado location (324 Jefferson Street). Requests for relocation assistance will be considered on a case-by-case basis. All positions are salaried with benefits.

The typical starting salary for this position is negotiable and will depend on experience. 3-5 years of similar experience — specifically with the assembly of small parts — will be requested. Due to Vortic’s unique business model, paid on-the-job training and apprenticeship are required for at least the first 3 months regardless of experience.

We offer paid time off, access to healthcare starting in 2025, access to a 401k with 5% match after 12 months, and a bonus program based on company sales results. The more watches you help us make, the more we can sell, and the more the company as a whole benefits financially; our bonus program distributes these benefits among our employees monthly.
