Vortic Careers: Watchmaker
Vortic Watch Company is in need of more certified watchmakers to work with our team, restoring pocket watch movements.
Vortic salvages and restores antique American pocket watch movements and converts them into one-of-a-kind wristwatches, and Colorado Watch Company makes the most American made wristwatches at scale today. Our watchmakers must be professionally trained and certified watchmakers and must be willing and able to pass a bench test.
If you are interested in full time, in person employment here in Fort Collins, Colorado, OR a remote/contract role, please fill out this form. Please let us know when you'd like to work in the notes!
As a watchmaker for a wristwatch manufacturing company, you'll be responsible for everything from restoring antique American pocket watch movements, to assembling the final wristwatches and everything in between. Opportunities to assemble modern watches for Colorado Watch Company as well as help with the development of that brand and its products are also available in the future.
We are one of the only wristwatch manufacturers in the United States and are on a mission to make as much of a watch here as possible. We do things in Colorado that are typically done in Switzerland and it's your job to continuously improve our systems and processes in order to compete with the massive Swiss and Chinese manufacturers in our industry by making watches here in Colorado.
We have everything you should need here to do your job, but we welcome you to bring your own tools or equipment if you have them. We are open to changing the layout and setup of our workspace for you, but we do have a ton of natural light in our watchmaking room which we hope you’ll enjoy!

We are looking for a team player. Someone who’s not afraid to provide feedback to the rest of the team if there’s a way to improve a part, a system, or a process, but also someone who’s willing to roll up their sleeves and knock out a bunch of hard work during our busiest times of the year. Ideally you’re a fast learner, you take feedback and criticism well, and you get along with your co-workers in a healthy, positive and supportive environment.
All work is to be done in-person Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm at our downtown Fort Collins, Colorado location (324 Jefferson Street). Requests for relocation assistance will be considered on a case-by-case basis. All positions are salaried with benefits.
The starting salary is negotiable and will depend on experience. 3-5 years of watchmaking experience, specifically with antique American pocket watches will be needed. On-the-job training and apprenticeship are required for the first 3 months at a minimum regardless of experience due to Vortic’s unique business model.
Contractors will be paid on a per-movement basis and will receive a consistent monthly allotment of movements which will equate to a relatively average and repeatable monthly rate.
You will have Paid Time Off, access to a Healthcare program starting in 2025, access to a 401k with 5% match after 12 months, and we also have a bonus program based on company sales results. The more watches you help us make, the more we can sell, and as they say, "a rising tide raises all ships."
