Watch Description

What makes the Boston 034 unique:

The Boston 034 is a remarkable tribute to timeless craftsmanship, beginning with its patina-rich cream-colored dial. Bold embossed numerals and striking blue-steeled hands stand out against the aged surface, highlighting the character and story of this 1929 original. The subtle weathering across the dial adds depth and charm, making each glance a journey into history.

Beneath the dial lies a 19-jewel manual-wind Waltham movement, showcasing engraved bridges, gold-plated gears, and polished brass jewel settings. These intricate details reflect the precision and durability of American watchmaking during the late 1920s. That same year, as the Great Depression began, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) opened in New York City, symbolizing resilience and a commitment to innovation.

Encased in a machined stainless steel case with a distinctive scalloped bezel, the Boston 034 marries durability with elegance. The knurled crown offers ease of use while complementing the watch’s vintage-inspired design. Paired with a warm brown leather strap, this timepiece is a versatile and sophisticated addition to any collection.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Waltham Watch Company. We call this model "The Boston" because of the company's proximity to the city.

Also known as American Watch Company and American Waltham Watch Company, Waltham was one of the leaders in attempting an entirely new concept, machines making machines. Prior to this, a watchmaker would hand-make each part of a movement one-at-a-time. Operating from 1851-1957, Waltham called its product the "Scientific Watch." Waltham's innovative, precise machining techniques made parts interchangeable, and their early version of the assembly line made high-quality watches efficient to produce. Legend has it that Henry Ford drew inspiration for his assembly line production from a visit to Waltham's factory. Located on the bank of the Charles River in "Watch City" (Waltham), Massachusetts, the factory has since been converted to apartment lofts.
