Watch Description

What makes the Chicago 073 unique:

The Chicago 073 commands attention with its clean, striking white dial, highlighted by bold Roman numerals and the iconic Chevrolet emblem proudly displayed at its center. This unique partnership with the Chevrolet brand bridges the gap between automotive history and horological artistry, paying homage to the legacy of American innovation. The dial’s blued steel kite hands and elegant subdial at 6 o’clock bring a refined balance to the watch’s timeless design.

Beneath its impeccable exterior lies a 15-jewel manual-wind movement, originally manufactured by the Elgin National Watch Company in 1924. This movement, like the Chevrolet emblem, represents a period of remarkable American craftsmanship, blending precision with durability. Encased in a machined stainless steel case with a coin-edged bezel, the movement is displayed through a sapphire crystal exhibition caseback, showcasing its intricate engineering.

Completing the design is a knurled stainless steel crown and a striking blue leather strap, which perfectly complements the watch’s polished finish. The Chicago 073 is a true celebration of two great American legacies, making it a standout piece for any collector who values history, craftsmanship, and innovation.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Elgin Watch Company. We call this model "The Chicago" because of the company's proximity to the city.

Also known as Elgin National Watch Company, Elgin wasn't only the largest watch manufacturer in the United States, but the largest watch manufacturer in the world for almost 100 years, operating from 1864-1964. The company often used a depiction of father time on advertisements. At one point, the company was making 7,500 watch movements per week and had 2,300 employees. The factory was demolished in 1966 and replaced with a shopping center.
