Watch Description

What makes the Lancaster 041 unique: Known for its durable quality and innovative designs, the Packard Motor Car Company epitomized the standard of luxury automobiles in America for almost 60 years. The Packard slogan "Ask the man who owns one" reflects the company's confidence in its product, allowing customers to have the final say about the quality of their purchase. Packard's advertising further contributed to the company's prestigious reputation by equating the quality and elegance of its cars with the status of those who owned them; those "of a distinguished family" could easily appreciate the luxurious nature of Packard automobiles. The 1927 Hamilton pocket watch that we've converted into the Lancaster 041 pays homage to Packard's tradition of excellence, featuring both slogans on a beautifully patinaed dial. Raised gold numerals and solid kite hands are accented by our machined bronze crown, while a bold DLC-coated stainless steel case and moss strap complete the look. "Distinguished" may just be the best word to describe this watch as well.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Hamilton Watch Company. We call this model "The Lancaster" because the company was located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Hamilton is named after famous Pennsylvanian Alexander Hamilton and is the result of multiple re-organizations of attempted watch companies in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1892, Hamilton had a reputation for superior quality and maintained half of the railroad watch market share during some of the most prolific years of American railroad history. During World War II, Hamilton was integral to the production of accurate timepieces for the Military. Deemed "the watch that won the war," the company established an employee-run newsletter so that employees turned soldiers could keep up with life at the factory. While the original factory still stands as luxury apartments, the company stopped producing watches in the US in 1969. Hamilton now produces watches in Switzerland and is owned by the Swatch Group.
