Watch Description

What makes The Springfield 077 Unique:

The Springfield 077 captures light and attention alike with its radiant golden dial, marked by an intricate guilloché pattern that gives the surface both texture and depth. Bold gold-tone numerals rise elegantly from the dial, their warm sheen shifting subtly as the watch moves. At the center, a pair of deep blue spade-and-whip hands provides vivid contrast, while the recessed sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock balances the composition. Every element reflects the artistry and precision of early 20th-century American design.

Inside beats a 17-jewel Illinois Stewart Special movement, renowned for its quality and craftsmanship. Originally manufactured in 1921, this hand-wound mechanism showcases exquisite detailing through the open caseback, including damaskeened bridges, gold-plated gears, and fine steel components. Fully restored by our team, the movement represents a perfect blend of historical integrity and mechanical reliability.

Encased in machined stainless steel with a coin-edged bezel and a textured crown, the watch balances durability with refined vintage charm. Its rich blue leather strap adds a bold yet harmonious contrast to the dial’s golden tones, creating a composition that feels both contemporary and timeless.

In 1921, the first radio broadcast of a baseball game changed how Americans connected to their favorite pastime—bringing sound, excitement, and innovation into homes across the nation. That same year, Illinois Watch Company produced this movement, exemplifying another kind of progress: precision craftsmanship made to endure. The Springfield 077 carries that legacy forward, preserving a golden era of American ingenuity on the wrist.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Illinois Watch Company. We call this model "The Springfield" because the company was located in Springfield, Illinois.

Originally called the Springfield Watch Company, Illinois came to Springfield, Illinois in 1869 while the "modern" watch industry was fairly new but highly promising. City officials felt that the addition of industry to the city of Springfield would be excellent for the city's growth. However, after a series of failures and re-brandings, the company had a slow start until 1903 when they decided to manufacture high-quality watches only. Eventually making some of the most beautiful watches of their time, the company sold to Hamilton in 1927. Hamilton continued producing watches under the Illinois name for some time, but the original Springfield factory no longer stands.
