Watch Description

What makes the Springfield 092 unique:

This Springfield 092 is a celebration of early 20th-century craftsmanship and artistry. Housed within a polished stainless steel case, this timepiece features an elegant angled bezel and a knurled machined steel crown that showcase Vortic’s dedication to precision engineering and timeless design.

What sets this watch apart is its dial — a breathtaking example of artistry that has endured for over a century. The detailed, symmetrical scrollwork gracing the center is remarkably well-preserved, a testament to the quality of its original creation. Complementing this intricate design are blued open kite hands, which elegantly contrast with the warm dial and align perfectly with the classic blue American-made leather strap. This pairing emphasizes the watch’s sophisticated aesthetic while paying homage to its rich history.

The manual wind movement, powered by 19 jewels, ensures reliable performance. Originally crafted by the Illinois Watch Company, this piece of American horological history continues to beat with precision. Whether admired for its ornate dial or its enduring mechanics, the Springfield 092 is a striking example of how classic design and modern engineering can coexist beautifully.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Illinois Watch Company. We call this model "The Springfield" because the company was located in Springfield, Illinois.

Originally called the Springfield Watch Company, Illinois came to Springfield, Illinois in 1869 while the "modern" watch industry was fairly new but highly promising. City officials felt that the addition of industry to the city of Springfield would be excellent for the city's growth. However, after a series of failures and re-brandings, the company had a slow start until 1903 when they decided to manufacture high-quality watches only. Eventually making some of the most beautiful watches of their time, the company sold to Hamilton in 1927. Hamilton continued producing watches under the Illinois name for some time, but the original Springfield factory no longer stands.
