Watch Description

What makes the Springfield 458 unique: Today, we are pleased to present the Springfield 458 — this incredible watch was originally manufactured by the Illinois Watch Company, and we were honored to give it back the life it once had. Our favorite elements of this watch include the bold type numbers, the subtle (but stunning) design in the dial, and the intricate nickel gears with bronze details. This is the perfect watch for anyone who wants a clean, modern look. Our black titanium case with diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating provides a sharp contrast with the white dial, and our Tobacco leather strap gives the watch a sophisticated look. The design in the center of the watch is delicate and intricate, with the ILLINOIS proudly stamped at the top. Powered by 17 jewels, this 404-grade watch is powerful — each gear works together to track time with precision and beauty. In 1917, the same year Illinois manufactured this watch, the United States officially entered War World I, joining their allies against Germany. This period signaled a new era of change and modernism, and with it, came the base for our sleek Springfield 458.

Movement Manufacturer Information

The movement inside of this watch was made by Illinois Watch Company. We call this model "The Springfield" because the company was located in Springfield, Illinois.

Originally called the Springfield Watch Company, Illinois came to Springfield, Illinois in 1869 while the "modern" watch industry was fairly new but highly promising. City officials felt that the addition of industry to the city of Springfield would be excellent for the city's growth. However, after a series of failures and re-brandings, the company had a slow start until 1903 when they decided to manufacture high-quality watches only. Eventually making some of the most beautiful watches of their time, the company sold to Hamilton in 1927. Hamilton continued producing watches under the Illinois name for some time, but the original Springfield factory no longer stands.
